The genus Cheiridopsis occurs over a range stretching from southern Namibia southwards through the Northern Cape Province of South Africa into the northern part of the Western Cape Province. Winter rainfall is the norm within the range. Cheiridopsis is a large genus with a wide variety of growth patterns. Flowers can be white, yellow, orange, and purple. They need adequate water during their active period in the fall and winter. They prefer sandy soil and need lots of light to do well. Old leaves tend to stay and become unattractive. Cheiridopsis are easily grown from seed

Cultivation and Propagation: It one of the post popular of this genus and is very easily raised although not so easy flowered as it requires high irradiation (sunlight). It must be kept quite dry during the resting period, and will need careful watering preferably from the base.
Propagation: It can be sown in the spring or summer. The seedlings should not be disturbed until they are well rooted, after after the first or second year they should be big enough to separate and be planted into their own pots.
